PlayStation®4 Games and Add-On Guidelines

PlayStation®4 games can be played on any PlayStation®4 system from any region. Game add-on content availability is based on the country/region associated with the country in which your account on the PlayStation™Network was created. This includes downloadable content (DLC) and items that can be consumed (in-game currency).

To ensure you will be able to access your add-on content and DLC, make sure the following match:

  • The country/region in which your account on the PlayStation™Network was created.
  • The game disc country/region.
  • The add-on country/region.

If the 3 areas above do not match, you will not be able to access any of the add-on content for the game.

To avoid this, before purchasing a game disc, make sure that the country matches the PlayStation™Store country that you will be using to purchase add-on content. Also, be sure to purchase games from reputable retailers that match the country tied to your account on PSN.

Where Can I Find the Country or Region Information of a PlayStation® Game?

You can check on the back of the game case. There will be printed material that lists which countries the game is licensed for.

How Do I Check the Country or Region Associated with the Country in Which My Account on PlayStation™Network Was Created?

The country in which your account on PlayStation™Network and PlayStation™Store was created is the same. You can sign in to your account on PlayStation™Network and check the country.

  • In the Account section, select Basic Account Information.
  • See the address and country entered in the Residential Address section.

My Game Disc and the Country or Region in Which My Account on PlayStation™Network Was Created Do Not Match

If the country of your disc and the country in which your account on PlayStation™Network was created do not match, the add-on content will not be accessible. The country code of your account is selected at the beginning of the account creation process and cannot be changed.

  • Option 1: If the country of your account is not correct, create a new account with the correct country and region.
  • Option 2: If the country of game disc is not correct, contact the retailer to purchase a game for the matching country.
