PlayStation Ratings and Reviews Policy

The PlayStation Store’s Ratings and Reviews feature allows players to share feedback about digital games they’ve acquired from the PlayStation Store. These reviews help other users make informed decisions and provide developers with valuable insights. To maintain a respectful and trustworthy environment, all reviews must adhere to the PlayStation Code of Conduct and this Policy.

Who Can Leave a Rating or Review?

To ensure authenticity and relevance for all ratings and reviews on the PlayStation Store, our system ensures that only users who have acquired the digital game through their account for PlayStation are eligible to leave a review, helping to verify that reviews originate from genuine purchasers.

This means that to leave a rating or review:

  • You must have acquired the product through your PlayStation Account; and
  • Reviews are linked to your account for PlayStation, and only one review per product per account is allowed.

This ensures that all reviews reflect genuine user experiences.

What are the Ratings and Reviews?

Ratings allow eligible users to assign a star rating (out of five stars) for a digital game acquired through their account for PlayStation.  The overall rating reflects the average of all ratings provided for the product.  When a star rating is provided it will affect the average star rating for that product.

Reviews allow eligible users to write a short summary of their experience and opinions about a product acquired through the PlayStation Store. All reviews are public and include details of the account for PlayStation that left the review.  We do not filter reviews to display only favourable feedback.

We do not pay users for ratings or reviews, but we may contact eligible users to prompt them to leave a review from time to time.  If any rating or review is incentivised, this will be clearly disclosed alongside the rating or review. Additionally, the ability to leave a review or a rating is not available on all products on the PlayStation Store and may also be limited in some regions.

How to Leave a Rating or Review

If you are eligible to leave a review or a rating, for supported products, you can:

  • Assign a star rating from 1 to 5 stars.

  • Write a text review describing your experience, including gameplay impressions, performance, story, graphics, and other relevant aspects.

When writing a review, you should follow these tips to ensure your review is as helpful as possible to other users:

  • Be specific, constructive and honest.

  • Focus on your personal experience with the product, rather than other people’s opinions or experiences.

  • Avoid spoilers unless clearly marked.

If you see a review that you consider to be helpful, you can give it a thumbs up by hitting the “Helpful” button underneath the review.  You must be logged in to your account for PlayStation to do this and you must have also acquired the product.  If you do hit the “Helpful” button, it will be added to the total number of users who found the review to be helpful.

If you have a technical issue with your product or if you want a refund, you can still leave a review, but we do not generally monitor our reviews page to provide support to users.  Instead, you may find more information on how to troubleshoot and resolve your issue or claim a refund by visiting our help pages, available here.

Community Standards

All reviews must comply with the PlayStation Code of Conduct.  You can review the PlayStation Code of Conduct here.  In short, this means that your review must not contain:

  • Hate speech, harassment or discriminatory language.

  • Profanity, sexually explicit content or threats.

  • Spam, promotional links, personal information or irrelevant content.

  • Personal attacks or abusive behaviour.

We treat all reviews equally, whether positive or negative. Negative reviews are not subject to greater scrutiny, moderation, or edits than positive reviews.

Fake reviews are strictly prohibited

Any attempt to submit a review that is not based on a genuine experience with the product, or that is otherwise misleading or fraudulent, is a breach of this policy. We use a third-party provider (Bazaarvoice) to authenticate reviews. For more information, you can review Bazaarvoice’s authenticity policy here.

What happens if I don’t comply with this Policy?

If we become aware of a breach in this Policy, for example through a user report, we may take action which might include:

  • Removal of the review.

  • Removal of the star rating.

  • Warnings or actions against your account for PlayStation, as detailed in the PlayStation Terms of Service which is available here.

Reporting Inappropriate Reviews

If you see a review that violates this Policy or the PlayStation Code of Conduct:

  • Click the “Report” button next to the review.

  • Select the reason for reporting and provide any additional details.

  • Submit your report for review by PlayStation’s moderation team.

Reports are confidential and help maintain a safe and respectful community. You can find more information on how to report content on PlayStation here.
