PlayStation Now on PC

How to get started with PS Now on your PC.

PlayStation Now (PS Now) is a game subscription service that allows you to play PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 games on compatible devices over the internet. Games are streamed, so you can get started right away, subject to a few requirements. You can also pick up your games where you left off on any of your PlayStation Now compatible devices so you never lose your game progress.

With the PlayStation Now on PC application you can play the entire PlayStation Now library on your Windows PC. Find out more about the PlayStation Now service here or keep reading for more information about PlayStation Now on PC.

What you need before you start

  • A stable broadband internet connection reaching at least 5Mbps. The lower ping your connection has, the better.
  • A Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account - find out how to create one here or set up an account as you get started. You won't be able to subscribe if you're under 18.
  • A payment method linked to your account.
  • A compatible controller
  • A USB data/charge cable for the controller [or a DualShock 4 USB Wireless adaptor]
  • A PC meeting system requirements

PC system requirements

  • A Windows PC with one of these operating systems:
    • Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) (32-bit or 64-bit)
    • Windows 8.1 (32-bit or 64-bit)
    • Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Sound card
  • At least 300 MB of available storage
  • 2 GB or more of RAM
  • Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster.
  • USB port

PS Now is not currently available for Mac.

How to set up PS Now

  1. Click here to download the PS Now on PC app.
  2. Install the app and any support software and drivers by following the onscreen prompts.
  3. Start the app and browse as a guest, create an SEN account or sign-in with your existing account.
  4. Connect a compatible controller to your PC via USB*. You can browse PS Now using a controller or keyboard/mouse, but you need a compatible controller to play.Sign up for a free trial (you are only eligible for a free trial if you’ve never tried PS Now before), or, if you’re not eligible for a free trial, sign up for a paid-for PS Now subscription.

Note: PS Now subscriptions are ongoing subscriptions with a recurring monthly subscription fee. If you do not cancel your PS Now subscription prior to the end of the free trial period, it will renew into a paid-for ongoing subscription on that basis. Find out more important information about the terms of PS Now or learn how to cancel your subscription.

  1. Link your credit/debit card [or PayPal account] to your SEN account. If you do not have sufficient funds in your wallet to pay the recurring monthly subscription fee, the required balance will be debited from the default payment method linked to your SEN account.
  2. Choose a game and get playing!

* Connection via USB is usually required for any controller type, but you can sometimes connect controllers via Bluetooth if you can install a compatible third party driver. However, we cannot guarantee continued compatibility as these drivers are not SIE software and therefore are not supported by SIE.

Compatible controllers

You can use these controllers for PS Now on PC:

  • DualShock 4 (DS4)
  • Some third party controllers with XInput

For the best gameplay experience, we recommend using a DS4 controller. However, some third party PC compatible controllers that use XInput will work with the PS Now on PC service, but we do not guarantee that they will have full compatibility with the PS Now on PC service. For example, some third party controllers will not support motion control, or other features.

This means that available features and how they work vary according to the controller you are using.

Dependent on model

If you do not have a PS button on your controller, you can hit [Esc] on your PC keyboard to quit the game.

Not sure if your third party controller is compatible? Try searching our forums or posting a question to the community to find out what other players are using.

Headset and mic use

Game audio is routed through your PC speakers or headphones, which means that connecting your headset via your controller won’t work. PS Now for PC does not currently support Party Chat functions.

Please see the table below to find out what headset functions are available while playing.
