If you would like to change a known password or reset a forgotten password, please select from the devices below for full instructions.

  • What information do I need to reset my password?

    1. You will need one of the following, depending on what info you have added to your PSN account:
    • Your date of birth — you added this when you first created your account
    • The answer to your security question — only if you decided to add this information
    • Your mobile phone — only if you’ve added your mobile number to your account
    1. Your PSN Sign-in ID

This is the email address linked to your account, which is used to sign in to PSN. The password reset link will be sent to this address so it is important that you have access to the account.

Received a password reset email you didn't ask for?

If the email says that PSN or SEN has reset your password, this is nothing to worry about. Passwords are regularly reset in order to ensure that accounts are kept secure. Just follow the instructions on this page to reset your password.

If the email doesn't state that the reset was initiated by PSN or SEN, someone else might be trying to access your account. We recommend that you complete the following steps to secure your account:

  • Change the password on your email account. If you have problems doing this, please contact your email provider as soon as possible.
  • If you were able to change the password on your email account, follow the steps on this page to reset your PSN account password.
  • Contact us* as soon as you can if you can't reset your PSN account password.

*You can find the appropriate contact number by clicking here, typing ‘forgotten password’ into the search bar and selecting your PlayStation system — the ‘call us’ option will appear at the bottom of the page.

Don't have your verification information?

You need to be able to verify your identity in order to reset your PSN password — this is to keep your account safe. There are two default methods used to verify accounts: the confirmation of a user’s date of birth and a verification email sent to the account Sign-in ID email address.

If you cannot provide the date of birth that was entered when the account was set up, or open the verification email, you will need to contact us* with the following information:

  • Online ID (the name shown when you play online) or Sign-in ID email address
  • A copy of your ID. For example your passport or driver’s license.

*You can find the appropriate contact number by clicking here, typing ‘forgotten password’ into the search bar and selecting your PlayStation system — the ‘call us’ option will appear at the bottom of the page.
