How to access PlayStation Store content from a friend’s PlayStation 4

This article explains how you can access your PlayStation Store content from different PlayStation 4 systems.

  1. Create a new Local User account on the PlayStation 4 and go to [Settings] > [PlayStation Network] > [Sign in]. Note that system parental control settings may restrict this option.
  2. Sign-in to your account.
  3. Select ‘No’ when you are asked if you want to activate this PlayStation system as your ‘Primary PS4’. This is to ensure you are able to continue to access your PlayStation Network content on your own PlayStation 4.
  4. You and your friend now have temporary access to your PlayStation Network content from your friend’s system.
  5. Please ensure that you correctly sign-out of PlayStation Network on your friend’s PlayStation 4 system to avoid any unauthorised access to your account.

  • You can only activate one PlayStation 4 as your ‘Primary PS4’.
  • If you sign in to your account temporarily on your friend’s PlayStation 4 any local users on your ‘Primary PS4’ can still play your PlayStation Store content at the same time (subject to age restrictions).
  • If you activate a friend’s PlayStation 4 as your ‘Primary PS4’ you and any local users on your own PlayStation 4 will not be able to access your PlayStation Store content on your PlayStation 4. To allow permanent access again you need to activate your PlayStation 4 as your Primary PlayStation 4 again or temporarily activate it as your secondary PlayStation 4.
  • Signing-into PlayStation Network on a third console will stop temporary access to your content on the second. Your ‘Primary PS4’ will remain unaffected.
