My PS4 won't update to 6.72

I can't turn my PS4 on anymore without getting the error message where it says to wait while it checks storage options. It then says "connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 6.72 or later." When I have downloaded it and plugged in a USB, it states that the file is corrupted. When I restart in safe mode, it allows me to update but then has the same message when it restarts after the update.

What can I do? Will I ever be able to use my PS4 again?

    Updating is different to reinstallation.

Make sure you have the correct file for reinstallation NOT just the update.

If the update is always corrupted then you need to try downloading it via a device with ethernet connection, possibly use a friend or relative's Internet connection instead.

The re-installation update file is around 1.2GB in file size, is this the file you have downloaded or have downloaded the smaller update version?

If the is repeatedly asking for an update after start up it may indicate the HDD is failing and needs replacing.
