LAN Cable not recognised by PS4

Created 20/06/2019

i Haven’t used the Ethernet port on my PS4 pro that I got 2.5 years ago until today when I decided to connect using Ethernet cable as I bought broadband extenders which means I don’t need a cable going all the way from my hub downstairs to upstairs,

however I get a “ connect LAN cable “ when trying to set up connection even when it is connected. The problem is not with broadband extender or the Ethernet cable because I connected to laptop and it works.

Any solutions?

I'd still say try another lan cable first, cat 5e preferably. PS4 can be picky so it's worth just making sure first.

Have you tried connecting by cable  directly to the router, rather than through the extender?

Also, daft as it sounds, just check the port isn't full of fluff and dust.

I have tried cat5e cable aswell and also connected the ps4 to the hub directly downstairs as well and it still doesnt detect it . I haven't used this port till now so I dont know why it would be broken and it doesnt look broken as well.
