How Do I Change Country on My PSN Account??

Created 29/11/2012
580 Replies

I've recently moved from Ireland to the UK and I'm trying to change the country on my PSN account so I can replace my Irish payment card with an English one and also be able to see the prices in sterling.

Only problem is that I can't seem to change the country anywhere!

Does anyone know how to do this?raw dead on another forum to just create a new account, but I have a LOT of content andtrophies on my current account and don't want to lose it all and start from scratch. Surely there is another way?!

    Hi guys,

Changing your country of residence is not currently available on PSN accounts. If you have permanently moved to another country I would advise creating a new PSN account reflecting your new country of residence.

If you need any further help with account management, you can also tweet to the official Ask PlayStation UK Twitter for more help. (Operating hours are Monday to Sunday, 9:00am to 11:00pm)

So now I'm stuck not being able to buy anything from the PSN store anymore?! That's rediculous. Especially considering how the Irish and UK stores are pretty much the same. And when my PSN subscription runs out I won't be able to renew it.  *****!

You're not exactly stuck. You can still by PSN cards.

Yes I know it's a pain, but if you don't want to lose your trophies and such that is the way to go.

Will English PSN cards work with my Irish account?

I know with some services such as iTunes, I can't use English cards on my Irish account so I had to change the country on that.

    Not sure.

If it in GBP then yes

If it is in Euro's no

you could always try http://gamesnash.ie/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1927 if you need the Irish Euro version

you can create a new ps3 user account and as long as you have it installed on your ps3 you can use the downloaded content on your main one

Not all downloads, some DLC, avatar items are account locked.

    Hello

I have a swiss PSN account, Now i live in UK, I changed my address but I can't change the country setting. This is a big problem, because I can't buy swiss PSN codes at all online, swiss francs cards are not common used. I would like to change my account in a UK account  so that i will be able to purchase games again. I don't want a new account, I have so much in ps Home for my avatar! Please sony, look if there is a way to change my profile. thanks for help.

The simple answer is that you can't change your psn country.
Create a new (UK) account for purchases only.
Continue playing your games on your Swiss account.
Unfortunately, Home purchases are locked to one account only, so you will have to find a way to fund your Swiss account if you want to make further purchases in Home (maybe a relative/friend in Switzerland can buy chf psn cards on your behalf?)

Yeah, I'm in the same shoes though different country. It's not a good advice to create new account, I have many PS titles I'd lose, I also have a PS vita, have many PSP titles I'd also lose since the Vita can only have one account active on it, so if I made a new one I couldn't play the old games on it, etc. And now PS4 is coming, am I going to have to start my PS4 life with an account that's not in the right region anymore?

If it was only trophies I wouldn't care at all, but it's a lot of games as well.

If you read my thread correctly, you would see that I said to create a new account for PURCHASES ONLY, from your new country's psn store.
You keep your old account, and play games using it. You would not lose any PS games, and anyway, you can play the games on any account on your ps3.
You may be right, as far as the Vita is concerned, but the op did not mention Vita.

As for the PS4, at this point no information has been released on how PSN accounts will work with them. It has been stated that the PS4 will be region free, for what that is worth.

Yes, your answer was fine for the op, sorry. It's not a solution for me though due to the restrictions placed on vita :(

Well, I'm in this exact same situation and it's ridiculous you can't change your PSN country/region, I've been looking around, emailing Sony and whatnot with no luck at all. This seriously needs to be addressed hopefully BEFORE PS4 when I'll need a PS subscription. You can't have two accounts on the Vita at the same time either, so how the hell am I supposed to earn trophies and whatnot on my main account?

Xbox Live lets you change your region every 3 months which is what PSN should also offer. They need to add these features otherwise PSN on PS4 is gonna look pretty weak in comparison to XBL on the 360. (and no I don't own a 360 or planning on buying a XB1), but MS have a much superior service right now.

Just take a look at how many people are requesting this on the share blog:

    Hello!

I've started the petition "Sony: Make the possibility to change country in the PSN account" and need your help to get it off the ground.

Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here's the link:

    http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/sony-make-the-possibility-to-change-country-in-the-psn-account-2

    Here's why it's important:

Users are not able to change country and therefore it is not possible to make payments as the billing information does not match.

You can sign my petition by clicking here.

    Thanks!
    Francesco

Account sharing is against the T&Cs of PSN/SEN, and carries a perma-ban on all hardware and associated accounts if caught. The discussion of which is forbidden here. Now go away.
