The greatest show on Earth

F1 2011 roars onto PS Vita bursting at the seams with all the official teams and drivers that started the 62nd FIA Formula One racing season. So, if you fancy reliving the thrill of the race at any of the 19 circuits on which Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel became the youngest ever driver to retain the drivers’ championship, F1 2011 is the game for you.

From the gorgeously rendered opening movie, through to the slick and accessible menus, F1 2011 sparkles with high production values. Environments are lovingly recreated, cars come to life in the tiniest detail and the roar of the engine is captured in a finely tuned audio track.

Not only does F1 2011 look and sound the part, it is fully loaded with tips and features to suit your level too – pick it up now if you're a seasoned pro who knows your D.R.S. from your K.E.R.S., or if you simply want to feel the adrenaline rush of racing some of the fastest four-wheeled machines on the planet.

Before you head for the track, check out the Formula One Vault, accessible from the Records section of the main menu, to get the low-down on the circuits, stars and cars of F1 2011, and then take your pick from the huge variety of game modes on offer.

Dive straight into Quick Race to get an instant taste of life in the fast lane – pick your driver, select a circuit, tweak the race settings and you’re good to go. Whilst you’re in the driving seat, a quick tap of the PS Vita system's touchscreen switches between the range of cockpit views, putting you even closer to the action.

Once you’ve clocked up some races and found the right settings to suit your level, hone your speed in Time Trial or put your skills to the test in Grand Prix, Career and Championship modes.

Choose Grand Prix to get your first taste of the big time as you play through a full weekend of action, or criss-cross the globe as you take on a full season in Championship mode. For the ultimate test, plunge into Career mode and rise through the ranks over three seasons to try and become the FIA Formula One World Drivers Champion.

Whichever mode you choose, make time to keep your eyes on the track map to get an idea of where the rest of the field is and listen out for instructions from your pit crew. As well as spurring you on with the latest information on your speed and lap times, they’ll let you know if you’ve incurred the wrath of the stewards and need to head into the pits to serve a drive-through penalty. Failure to do so could result in crucial seconds being added to your time at the end of the race.

As well as these traditional single player racing modes, F1 2011 includes a series of Challenges which will test your skills behind the wheel. With a total of 60 challenges to unlock, will you have what it takes to beat them all?

The race is on

You can compete against up to three other racers in a variety of local and online multiplayer modes: Race, Time Trial and Constructor Face-Off. You can either join an existing game or choose to host one; if you go for the latter, then it’ll be up to you to choose which multiplayer mode you play, define the race settings and the circuit to be raced.

It’s winner takes all in Race mode: choose your driver, pick from any of the 19 circuits in the game and jostle your way to the front of the pack as you try to make it first to the finish line ahead of your rivals. Speed freaks can get their kicks in Time Trial where the name of the game is posting the fastest time on a specific circuit before the time runs out.

The third mode, Constructor Face-Off , is perhaps the closest you’ll get to real-life racing with a teammate by your side as four cars from two constructors compete in a set of races and try and get the highest amount of points that they can for their team.
