Reimagining a legend

God of War

Sony Santa Monica unveiled their brand-new take on PlayStation’s iconic God of War franchise with an on-stage demo which showcased a bold change of direction for the series and a deeper, more reflective journey for long-time protagonist Kratos.

A complete reinvention of the franchise and its characters, God of War switches out the fury of the series’ previous entries with a more sombre story of growth and sacrifice and follows the titular God of War as he tries to shape a more hopeful future for himself and his son.


Days Gone

Handheld gaming wizards Bend Studio were on-stage to reveal their first title for PlayStation 4, Days Gone. Showcasing a brutal post-apocalyptic world, the gameplay unveiling introduced us to former outlaw biker Deacon St. John and his struggle to stay alive in an uncompromising world torn apart by disease.


Ratchet and Clank developer Insomniac Games was giddy to finally reveal its latest project with long-time collaborators SIEA. The self-confessed Marvel nerds showcased a trailer for a new Spider-man game they’ve been working on.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Unveiled at last year’s explosive Sony E3 press conference, Horizon Zero Dawn returned to the stage as Guerrilla Games unveiled a brand-new section of gameplay following Aloy as she steps beyond the walls of her village to tackle a ‘demon’ that has been terrorizing locals.

Detroit - Become Human

Following its Paris Games Week reveal last year, Quantic Dream shed more light on their ambitious vision for Detroit – Become Human. Revealing new playable character Conner – a clinical and calculating android detective – conference goers were treated to a brand new demo showcasing the game’s core philosophy of player choice and consequence.

Death Stranding

Andrew House took to the stage to welcome an old friend back to PlayStation. Hideo Kojima stepped up to introduce his latest project, Death Stranding, with a mysterious trailer starring Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame – and left us all wondering about the dark themes that will define Kojima Productions’ debut title.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard

Horror came home as Capcom shocked the audience in the best way possible with the next instalment to its world dominating series – complete with a vicious virtual reality makeover.

Rocksteady Games peeled the cowl off its latest superhero game - the staggering Batman: Arkham VR, giving you the chance to explore iconic locations as the world’s greatest detective from a first-person perspective. Exclusive to PlayStation VR, this intense murder mystery lets you live in Wayne Manor and the Batcave – but do you have the nerve to literally face one of the most fearsome of rogues gallery in comic books? 

Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission

Star Wars fans got a galaxy of treats as Criterion Games and DICE launched into a blistering demo of Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, exclusive to PlayStation VR. Piloting the iconic vehicles of the sci-fi epic is about to become even more exciting, with the ability to strap you into an X-Wing and take part in heart-stopping space battles. And best of all, Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission will be free for all Star Wars Battlefront owners on PS4. 

The edge of space


From LA to the edge of the universe, PlayStation VR crash landed onto a hostile alien world with Farpoint. Stranded a long, long way from home, galactic adventurers will set off on a mission to track down their downed space station – and any possible survivors – before making a desperate attempt to find a way home.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens demo

Battlefront wasn’t the only game at the show ready to blast you off into a galaxy far, far away. TT Games announced that you can play LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens right now with the Niima Outpost Demo. Head over to PlayStation Store to escape from Jakku as Rey, Finn and BB-8 – complete with all their gear, weapons and the chance to fly the Millennium Falcon. Here goes nothing…

The Last Guardian

Re-announced during last year’s show, the anticipation for The Last Guardian showed no signs of abating as Trico once again stole the show. Featuring brand new gameplay, the latest trailer also revealed the release date of 25 October 2016 – and it’s available to pre-order now from PlayStation Store.

Crash bashes into Skylanders Imaginators

The canny orange bandicoot we all love is leaping back to our screens after a few teasing moments from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Crash Bandcoot was unveiled to be a playable character and toy in Skylanders Imaginators, running amuck with his trademark swagger and spin. And where would Crash be without his faithful buddy Aku Aku? This wise and wooden pal not only offers his voice for our hero, but protects him for a short period of time when he’s taken one too many hits.
