  • The Welcome hub is now available in the home screen. For users in North America, this enhancement replaces the Explore hub.
    • You can customize the Welcome hub with widgets and backgrounds.
    • Widgets display information like storage, battery levels, online friends, and more.
    • Widgets can be added, removed, resized, and moved one by one. You can also choose from preset widget layouts based on your preferences.
    • A limited number of users will receive the Welcome hub in this update. All users worldwide will receive this enhancement within 1-2 months.
  • You can now create a personalized 3D audio profile for your headphones that's optimized to each user's ears. This allows for a more immersive 3D audio experience than ever before.
    • Each 3D audio profile is uniquely optimized for each user, created by taking detailed measurements of how you hear 3D audio through headphones.
    • To create a personalized 3D audio for your headphones, go to Settings Sound > 3D Audio (Headphones).
    • You can still select from 3D audio presets like before.
  • Adaptive charging for your controller is now available for when your PS5 (CFI-2000 model group)is in rest mode.
    • Adaptive charging allows the duration of power supply during rest mode to adjust depending on how much battery your controller has left, helping save power.
    • To use adaptive charging, go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode, and then select Supply Power to USB Ports > Adaptive.
    • Adaptive charging is supported on the PS5 CFI-2000 model group, using the USB Type-C port. Adaptive charging works with the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controller.
    • After your PS5 enters rest mode, if a controller isn't connected, the power supply to the USB port will stop after a certain period of time.
  • When you’re in a party, you can now share a link to that party. Share the link with players using other services to invite them to that party.
    • This feature will be gradually rolled out after this system software update is released.
  • You can now set which users can connect to the PS5 using Remote Play.
    • Go to Settings > System > Remote Play > Enable Remote Play, and select the users who can access your console through Remote Play.
  • The restore licenses feature has been improved, and you can now restore one license at a time.
    • Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses to select the license that you want to restore.
    • To restore a license from the home screen or Game Library, go to the game, press the options button, and then select Restore License from the menu.
  • We’ve added a friendly recommendation about your storage space that you’ll sometimes see in Settings > Storage.
  • We've made it simpler to access the most popular activities from game hubs.
    • Game hubs now only display activities that are currently in progress.
    • To play a specific activity, start the game first and find it using in-game menus.
  • The Invite to New Game option, which is available from multiple locations, is no longer available when sending game invites.
    • To invite friends to a game session, start the game first, then send the invitation to the session.

  • You can invite other players to game sessions by sharing a URL to the session. 
    • To invite other players, open the game session action card and select Share Link. Then, scan the QR code with your mobile device to share the link.
    • This feature is available only for open sessions that anyone can join. 
    • This feature will gradually be rolled out to all players by July 24.
  • Voice Command now supports the ability to open Game Help action cards by saying "Show Game Help". 
    • Currently, Voice Command (Preview) is available only in English for players with accounts for PlayStation Network in the US and UK.

  • Child accounts can now link and add third-party services and apps to their account for PlayStation Network to enjoy benefits and features that enhance their gameplay experience.
    • Younger players that use child accounts on PS5 can link accounts to use features like Discord voice chat, music streaming via Apple Music and Spotify, and broadcasting and sharing gameplay via YouTube and Twitch.
    • New parental controls are available for parents and guardians. These controls notify and allow them to manage their child's account links with third-party services and apps.
      Availability may vary depending on age, parental control settings, and country/region.
  • You can now start or join a Discord voice chat directly from your PS5.
    Open Game Base in the control center and select the Discord tab to access your servers and direct calls.
  • We’ve updated the device software for the PULSE Elite wireless headset, PULSE Explore wireless earbuds, and PlayStation Link USB adapter.
    • PlayStation Link connection stability has been improved.
    • We've fixed an issue with the PULSE Elite wireless headset that caused the power to turn off when the audio cable is connected to the audio input jack.
    • On the PULSE Elite wireless headset, the status indicator that turns on after establishing PlayStation Link connection is now less bright.

  • Game Help has been expanded by adding Community Game Help features.
    • In Game Help, you will see hints labeled Community Game Help in supported games, which indicates that the hint was generated from other players' gameplay videos.
    • You can participate in Community Game Help by allowing your gameplay video to be automatically captured and added to the feature upon review.
      To opt in, go to Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Captures > Auto Captures > Community Game Help, and then select Participate. You can also opt out at any time.
  • In Remote Play, if the persistent message "Remote Play connected." is displayed during Remote Play, you can now hide this on your game screen. Go to Settings > System > Remote Play and turn on Hide Remote Play Connection Status.

  • We've updated the device software of the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers to improve their sound features. 
    • The controller speakers can now produce higher volume sound, allowing you to hear in-game sounds and voice chat audio more clearly. 
    • The mic input quality on these controllers has been improved with a new AI machine-learning model. Background noise from button presses and game audio are suppressed, resulting in a better voice chat experience. 
  • You can now adjust the brightness of your PS5's power indicator. 
    • Go to Settings > System > Beep and Light, and then select Brightness
  • We've added new features in Parties and Share Screen.
    • Players watching Share Screen can use pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host's gameplay. 
      • Viewers can use a pointer or indicate a specific location on the gameplay screen with ping. 
      • Viewers can also send emoji reactions. 
      • This feature is available when the host turns on Viewer Interactions in the Share Screen settings. 
  • Unicode 15.1 emoji is supported. You can now use them in messages.

    • In the Parties tab, you can now see the list of parties you've joined in the past. You can easily restart a party just by selecting it from the Recent list.

    • You can now use the sound equalizer feature.
    • You can now use the sidetone feature, which makes it easier for you to hear your own voice in voice chats.
  • When you have a PULSE Elite wireless headset or PULSE Explore wireless earbuds nearby, a notification will now appear to let you connect to them quickly. You can now easily switch the connection from your PC to your PS5 through this notification.

  • Music in the control center is now much easier to use. With its two-column layout, you can easily browse various categories, playlists, and songs.
  • You can avoid unintentionally broadcasting your surroundings while broadcasting games with your PlayStation VR2.
    • Go to Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2, and turn on Block See-Through View on TV to prevent the camera see-through image from being displayed on your TV while using your PS VR2.
  • If you say "What's new?" via Voice Command on any screen, you can now check for new PS5 features.

  • Dolby Atmos® is now supported, and you can enjoy 3D audio on HDMI devices that support Dolby Atmos.
    • Enjoy an immersive audio experience with your supported HDMI device while playing PS5 games that support the Tempest 3D audio technology.
    • Media apps that support Dolby Atmos can now deliver the spatial sound experience with your supported HDMI device.
    • To turn on Dolby Atmos, go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Audio Format (Priority), and then select Dolby Atmos.
  • You can now use an M.2 SSD with a maximum capacity of 8 TB to expand storage space on your PS5.
  • The screen reader now supports Turkish, Swedish, and Portuguese (Portugal).
  • The Access controller is now supported.
  • You can now use an assist controller.
  • You can now assign a second controller to a user who's logged in to your PS5 as an assist controller. This allows you to use the main controller along with the assist controller to control your PS5 as if you were using one controller.
  • To use an assist controller, go to Settings > Accessibility > Controllers > Use Second Controller for Assistance, and then turn on Use Assist Controller.
  • You can use an assist controller when using a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller, or a PS5-supported third-party controller as the main controller.

Other updated features

Game Base

  • You can now easily see which of your friends are in an activity you can join under the Friends tab.
  • The joinable icon will be displayed next to friends who are playing a game you can join.
  • You can join a friend's game directly by pressing the options button and selecting Join Game, or by selecting Join on their profile card.

Parties

  • When someone's sharing their screen in a party, you'll now see a preview of their Share Screen. You can find this in the Parties tab.
  • You can now start a private party without creating a group.
  • You can now invite players who aren't group members to a private party.
  • You can now send party invitations to groups, in addition to individual players.
  • You can now react to messages with emojis.
  • It's now easier to access media shared in your groups. Select Shared Media from the options menu in the messages card.
  • The usability of cards in the control center has been improved.
  • Activity cards have been improved. When multiple activities are in progress, the newest one will appear as a standalone card in the control center. The consolidated activities card will also continue to be displayed.
  • Game Help cards have been improved.
  • In addition to in-progress activities, you can now see available, previously available, upcoming, and completed activities.
  • When a card is selected, its details are now displayed on the right side of the card, making it easier to find objectives and their corresponding hints.
  • The console navigation experience has been improved.
  • When moving the cursor while navigating the console, the sound effect you hear when you reach the point where you can't move any further is now more pronounced and noticeable.
  • You can now get haptic feedback through vibrations on your controller while navigating your PS5. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Controllers, and then turn on Haptic Feedback During Console Navigation.
  • In the game hub, you can now see how many tournaments you've entered and the highest place you've achieved.
  • On the player profile screen, you’ll now see Most played games.
  • In game library, you can now search for games just within your game library.
  • Browse useful tips for getting the most out of your PS5 and learn about new features in the new Discover Tips section.
  • Go to Settings > Guide & Tips, Health & Safety, and Other Information > Guide and Tips, and then select Discover Tips to view all the tips.
  • Simplified Cangjie has been added to text input methods for Chinese (Traditional).
  • To use the Simplified Cangjie input method on the on-screen keyboard, go to Settings > System > Language > Input Language > Chinese (Traditional), and then turn on 速成.
  • To use it on an external keyboard, go to Settings > Accessories > Other Accessories and select Chinese (Traditional) for Type, and 速成 for 輸入法.
  • You can now mute or adjust the volume of the PS5's beep sound when turning it on or off, or putting it in rest mode. Go to Settings > System > Beep Sound.
  • To adjust the beep sound volume, select Volume.
  • To mute the beep sound, turn on Mute Beep Sound.
  • The video output information screen displayed in Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output has been redesigned to make it easier to view.
  • To see your current resolution, color format, and HDCP version, select Current Video Output Signal.
  • To see the support status of HDR (high dynamic range) and VRR (variable refresh rate) for each of the available frequencies for your HDMI device, select Information for the Connected HDMI Device.
  • Voice Command has been improved.
  • The help content of Voice Command has been improved.
  • You can now navigate between help content pages using Voice Command.
  • Help content will be hidden after some time has passed.
  • If you say “What’s new?” via Voice Command on any screen, you can now check for new PS5 voice commands and the latest information about PS Plus.
