Hi

I’m going to tell you why PlayStation needs your personal information and how it is used to provide you with a great PlayStation experience!

How it works

When you use your console to play games or apps, PlayStation collects some information about you.

We collect information such as: your name and age when you create an account, your user name, password, profile photo, language, the games that you play, the Trophies you  earn when you play  and the serial number of your device (which is like its name).

How your information is used

This information is used for things like:

  • Doing what you ask us to do, like connecting you to your friends so you can chat or showing them your Trophies.
  • Helping to keep you safe when you play online and prevent fraud.
  • Helping you with any problems you may have when you contact PlayStation Support.

We only use this information to message you if we need to tell you about something important, like changes to our rules, or if you break our rules.

We will never use the information we know about you to send or show you ads.

Your information is safe

We keep your information safe and only tell other people your information when we need to, or if the adult who looks after you asks us to. For example, we share information with:

  1. Companies that develop games, so they can do things like connect you to your friends online.
  2. Companies that provide a service to us (including other Sony companies), such as companies that help us keep our platform safe from bad people.
  3. Government and Police authorities where we have to comply with a law or an investigation.

We never share your name or password with anyone else and neither should you.

Your rights

You can find out what PlayStation knows about you. You can also ask us to change or delete certain information. We call these things your rights. If you want to exercise any of these rights, please contact us or drop us an email at siee.dpo@sony.com.

If you want to know more about any of these rights, talk to your parents or the adult who looks after you. You can also read our full Privacy Policy with your parents or responsible adult.
