Find out what to do if your PlayStation 3 system doesn’t turn on.
Check if the PlayStation 3 system’s yellow power indicator is flashing.
If the power indicator on the front of the PlayStation 3 system is flashing and you are unable to turn the system on, there may be a fault with the system.
Connect a different device to the mains power supply to ensure that the power supply is functioning correctly.
Check that the AC adaptor is connected.
Check that the PlayStation 3 system’s AC adaptor is properly connected to the PlayStation 3 system.
Check the AC adaptor for damage.
Make sure that there is no physical damage to the PlayStation 3 system’s AC adaptor. Do not use the AC adaptor if any part of it is frayed, cut or damaged in any way.
Test the AC adaptor.
Connect the AC adaptor to another PlayStation 3 system or connect a different AC adaptor to your PlayStation 3 system to check that the AC adaptor is functioning correctly.
Have there been any power cuts or surges in your area?
If you have experienced a power surge, shortage or lightning storm in your area recently, the PlayStation 3 system power supply may have been affected.
Does your PlayStation 3 system show signs of a component failure?
If your PlayStation 3 system’s power indicator is flashing red or alternately red and green, the system may need to be serviced. Contact us.
Alternatively you can try to solve your problem by accessing and using Safe Mode.
Is the PlayStation 3 system adequately ventilated?
Ensure that the PlayStation 3 system is situated in a well-ventilated area, at least 10cm from the nearest wall, and that the system’s air vents are not blocked or obstructed.
