PS4: Live Events

Learn how to purchase and watch live events directly on your PlayStation 4 console.

Live Events are a great way to watch pay-per-view events on your PS4 system, live or on demand, with no subscription and no commitments.

Live events can be purchased on PS4 systems and in some cases via the PlayStation Video app on Android mobile devices, but can only be viewed on a PS4 system

How do I purchase Live Event content?

  1. Search for the event in the PlayStation Store.
  2. Select the event you wish to purchase.
  3. On the Event Details page you will find a summary which includes the runtime, the time until the event starts, and whether or not the event can be replayed.
  4. Select [Pre-Order] for upcoming events or [Buy] for currently live and past events  — this will use funds from your PlayStation Wallet.
Please Note: If you are trying to access a free event, you will be taken through the purchase flow, but your wallet will not be charged.

How do I play an event?

  1. Click on the [PlayStation Video – My Videos] icon on the PS4 home screen or Library.

  2. Within [My Videos], select [Live Events].

  3. Select the event and then [Watch].

How do age restrictions work?

Events are only accessible to PSN account holders over the age rating designated for each event. For more information on age ratings, please visit the Parental Controls guide.

How long can I replay the content?

Each Event Details page will notify you about the availability of replay and catch-up viewing. This information can be seen in the “Available Until” section.

Please note some events will not be available for replay. Such events are marked with the text “No on-demand viewing after the event ends” on top of the product description. For these events, once the runtime of the event has passed, the content will no longer be available.

What happens if I pre-order a one-off event and miss the showing?

An event is only available to view during its availability period as listed on the Event Details Page. Once the “Available Until” date and time have passed, content will no longer be available.

Please note some events will not be available for replay. Such events are marked with the text “No on-demand viewing after the event ends” on top of the product description. For these events, once the runtime of the event has passed, the content will no longer be available.

My system turned off automatically, how do I stop this from happening?

To prevent this issue, use the following suggested settings: [Settings] > [Power Save Settings] > [Set Time Until PS4 Turns Off] > [Media Playback] > [After 5 Hours]

How do I fix issues with my stream?

  • Playback quality is poor

    • Run a speed test by selecting [Settings] > [Network] > [Test Internet Connection]. You will need a connection speed that is greater than 4mbps.
    • Ensure no other Internet streams/downloads are happening on your network.
    • If you are using Wi-Fi, consider moving your PlayStation system closer to the router (or vice versa) and removing any obstructions between the two devices.
    • If the issue persists, try connecting to the router via Ethernet cable.
    • If possible, open TCP Ports: 80, 443, 465, 993, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080 and UDP Ports 3478-3479 on the router and try again*.

*If you are unsure about adjusting your router settings, contact your Internet Service Provider [ISP] for assistance.
