PlayStation Safety tips for families at home

Gaming is a popular and interactive indoor activity, and the PlayStation Safety team would like to offer some tips and reminders to help your family have fun at home and stay safe online.

Online safety tips for parents

  • You have the ability to manage your child’s online gaming experience through Family Management settings and Parental Controls on your PlayStation system.
  • Encourage your children to practise good behaviour on PlayStation Network by reviewing the Community Code of Conduct with them.

  • Understand game ratings and choose which content is most appropriate for your child.
  • Teach your children how to prevent unwanted social interaction with other players by blocking them. Learn how to block players here: Block Players on PlayStation Network.

  • Report players and inappropriate content on PlayStation Network through the reporting function. The Safety team will review your report and take appropriate action on the offender. Learn how to report here: Report Players on PlayStation Network.

Include the whole family in Play Time

  • Gaming is fun for the whole family. Whether it be video games, board games or puzzles, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Try engaging in new ways to play through PlayStation VR and PlayLink.

  • Stay social and connect with family and friends virtually through social media, instant messaging or conferencing apps. Join a Party on PlayStation Network to chat with other players or take your gaming experience online through PlayStation Plus.

  • Maintain a consistent workout routine and encourage your family to stay active together. Check out our great selection of PlayStation VR exercise and fitness games on PlayStation Store.
