PS4: How to add a security question and mobile number to your PSN account

Learn how to add extra verification information to your account using your PS4, in case you ever need to reset your password.

 
 

How do I add a security question using my PlayStation 4?

  1. On your PS4 system, go to [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Security]. You will be asked to enter your Sign-in ID and password.
  2. Select [Security Question and Answer]
  3. Choose a Security Question from the list, and select [Continue].
  4. Enter the answer to your Security Question in the text box, and select [Confirm].

You will now be able to use your Security Question and Answer to verify your identity if you ever need to reset your password.

How do I add a mobile number using my PlayStation 4?

  1. On your PS4 system, go to [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Security]. You will be asked to enter your Sign-in ID and password.
  2. Go to [Mobiles Phones] and select [Add Your Mobile Phone].
  3. Select your country or region and enter your mobile number, then select [Add].
  4. You will be sent a text message with a verification code. Once received, enter the code and select [Verify].

You will now be able to use your mobile phone to verify your identity if you ever need to change your password.

How do I set up a security question and answer on my PlayStation 4?

  1. Select your local user account and press up on the control pad to access the function menu and go to [Settings] >  [PlayStation Network] > [Account Information] > [Security Question and Answer] and press (X button).
  2. Choose your security question and answer and select [Continue].
