Community Code of Conduct

In this article you can learn about the Dos and Don’ts of using your SEN account, as well as suspensions and bans which can be applied to your account for not adhering to these guidelines.

What does the Community Code of Conduct apply to?

When using Sony Entertainment Network you and your sub account users must behave decently, respectfully and with consideration for us and other users (who may be children). This includes your use of any sharing or communication features available that allow you to share messages, comments, pictures, photographs, videos, game assets, game videos and other information.

What are the Dos and Don’ts of using my SEN account?

When signing up to Sony Entertainment Network, you agree to abide by our SEN Terms of Service and here are the key points:

Do

  1. Treat other people with respect.
  2. Add users to your Friend List - if you enjoy gaming with someone make it easy to find them when you next use PlayStation Network.
  3. Make sure your Online ID, messages, forum posts, user generated content or any other form of communication are not offensive to others: do not post anything that is defamatory (making an untrue statement that may be damaging to the person concerned) or racially, ethnically, religiously or sexually offensive.
  4. Think about whether you are posting links to appropriate websites (we will remove inappropriate links).
  5. Place parental controls on your child’s sub account to restrict spending and chat functions.
  6. Add other players to your blocked user list if they’re spoiling your online experience and send us a Grief Report if you would like us to investigate further.

Don’t

  1. Stalk, bully, discriminate against or abuse other users.
  2. Be disruptive or threatening.
  3. Send spam messages or forward recommendations / offers to your contacts without their permission.
  4. Share other users’ and your own personal and account information. Similarly, do not ask other people to give you their personal or account information.
  5. Use or share codes, software or devices to cheat and do not attempt to hack, damage or exploit any bugs in PlayStation Network to gain an unfair advantage.
  6. Use PlayStation Network for profit or for commercial purposes, infringe on copyright owned by anybody or break the law in any other way.
  7. Give false information including making false complaints, giving us a false date of birth or impersonating another person.

If you break the Code of Conduct we may suspend your account or ban your PlayStation systems. The length of suspension or ban depends on how seriously the rules are broken and we reserve the right to suspend or ban a user for a first offence.

What types of suspensions and bans are there, and what do they mean?

If your account or PlayStation system has been suspended or banned, you will receive an email at the address associated with your account within 24 hours explaining the reason and how long it will last. We cannot provide more details either in this email notification or later communications for legal reasons.

You will see an error code when you attempt to sign-in to PlayStation Network if your account or PlayStation system has been suspended or banned. Please see the table below for more information about error codes:

Other users with their own local accounts on the same system can use their account as normal.

If an account has been permanently banned, we will not refund you for any unused period of subscriptions or any unused wallet funds in line with the SEN Terms of Service.

PlayStation system suspension/ban

Console suspension means that your PlayStation system has been stopped from accessing PlayStation Network for a set amount of time. A ban means that you will not be able to access PlayStation Network at any point in the future.

No users may use PlayStation Network with their local account on the system.

If a PlayStation system has been permanently banned, we will not refund you for any unused period of subscriptions or any unused wallet funds in line with the SEN Terms of Service.
