Rocky Balboa contains the historical bouts that chart the fighting history of the Rocky film series. Each fight is introduced with clips from the relevant films which, combined with the original soundtrack, makes for the perfect mix to psych you up for the fight.

Each fight pits you against an opponent from a milestone fight in each Rocky movie, including Rocky vs Spider Rico, Rocky vs Apollo Creed and Apollo against Ivan Drago. They continue through to the final fight between Rocky and Mason "The Line" Dixon in the final Rocky film, Rocky Balboa. If successful, the opponent from the fight can be played allowing Rocky history to be relived or rewritten.

If you can't wait to get into the mix, then the Fast Lane mode presents an array of fights combining all the fighters and environments. Here you have to knock down your opponent to unlock more KO challenges and new environments including the street outside Rocky's local bar. This provides the perfect opportunity to get to grips with each fighter's boxing style while identifying their particular weaknesses.

To learn the basics you need to visit Mickey's Corner, a mode where each game move is illustrated. Each training section is set within a relevant part of a movie. Moving on to the more challenging combos will help you pull off a flurry of hammering punches.

The controls are easy to get to grips with as they are similar to those in the classic Rocky and Rocky Legends games on PlayStation 2. Once in the ring you find that each game character has unique animations and sound effects that you will recognise from the films. The animations and styles also track Rocky's own physical progression from quick inexperienced fighter to old warrior throwing some hurtin' bombs.

There is an exhibition mode and an Ad Hoc mode which can see you and a friend slug it out in true Rocky style with dramatic movements and huge turnaround punches. The immersive camera angles make you feel the drama of a comeback or a knock-down so make sure you have the edge, the eye of the tiger to win!

Of course the game isn't just another boxing simulator. It is a Rocky game and has all Rocky's heart and true fighting style. This comes in the form of the Power Mood. When in trouble a Power Mood can be triggered to put the character in the zone with full energy and speed punches to turn the situation around.

Rocky Balboa on PSP is an exhilarating game that will have you trying to stay on your feet using all the heart movie goers have seen in the rollercoaster journey of the Rocky film series.

The intuitive controls, detailed graphics, fluid animations and pumping soundtrack will have you seeing "how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward" as the crowd chant in your ear - Rocky, Rocky, ROCKY, ROCKY!
