What is Metro Awakening?

A story-driven first-person adventure built exclusively for VR that blends atmospheric exploration, stealth and combat for incredible immersion.

The year is 2028. The survivors of nuclear Armageddon cling to existence in the buried subways of the Moscow Metro – civilisation’s last refuge and tomb, where ghosts and spirits haunt the living in this man-made purgatory.

You are Serdar, a doctor braving the darkness, crippling radiation and deadly threats of the Metro in the search for your wife and the medication she so desperately needs. As your courage and sanity are pushed to the limit you must learn to walk the line between life and death, the spirit and the material world.

How Metro Awakening makes full use of innovative PlayStation VR2 features

Sense controller features

Switch on the Sense controllers' optional vibration and trigger effect features to feel the pull of each weapon's trigger and the impact of bullets striking you. These tactile sensations only add to an already visceral experience.

Headset vibration

Activate optional headset haptics to feel even more as you navigate the subterranean sprawl of Moscow's Metro, with your life-saving gas mask requiring regular attention.  

Different play styles

Take advantage of Metro Awakening's support for three play styles: sitting, standing, or roomscale. This tailored approach provides the player with comfort, however intense the action gets.

Complete immersion

High-resolution textures, complex particle and fog effects, parallax mapping for increased depth and added dynamic objects are shown in PS VR2's crisp 4K, making this the most enveloping Metro game yet.
