    Day of the dead

Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel drops you into the fiery heart of modern Mexico, where ruthless drug cartels rule the streets and any attempt to restore law and order is met with murder.

Taking on the roles of Alpha and Bravo, two mercenaries employed by the Trans World Operations agency, your mission is to guard the politician Cordova, whose vocal opposition to the drug warlords has placed him in grave danger. Pretty soon your outspoken paymaster is under attack from hordes of gun-toting gangsters, and a wildly brutal adventure ensues.

Filled with extreme characters and insane action, Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel twists and turns like a desert storm, pitching you into a bloody battle against the world's most fearsome criminals. You'll have gloriously good fun keeping up with the bucking bronco of a storyline, but remember: down Mexico way, anything can happen... and even your closest allies may not be what they seem.

    Raw power

Big, bad and outrageous, Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel is a high-octane cinematic treat brimming with awesome explosions and unforgettable action.

Visually, the game is spectacular, with the dusty streets and deserted badlands of Mexico vividly rendered and ripe for ruin. Most of the environments in the game are destructible, meaning that every bullet and grenade leaves its mark. Sometimes you can hardly see for smithereens, which only adds to the excitement - and every element, from muscle-bound mercs to crumbling backdrops, is beautifully animated and alive.

The sound also ramps up the adrenaline, with moments of high tension and release rammed home by ear-splitting effects, hilarious dialogue and music from some of today's coolest acts - including hip-hop legend Big Boi. The overall experience is bountiful, bold and larger than life: a supercharged Hollywood action blockbuster you control.

    Kill buddy

The action in Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel centres on the relationship between Alpha and Bravo, two soldiers of fortune more given to frenzy than to fear. Play solo, and you'll command one of this deadly duo while the computer controls the other.

The cartel's minions are legion, and they have a nasty habit of attacking en masse, so the best way to survive the onslaught is to think strategically. Using the advanced cover manoeuvres will help you to slip from one hiding place to another without having your brains blown out. All the while, your partner will lay down a life-saving stream of bullets to keep enemies from advancing; just remember that he'll need you to return the favour.

Each of the colourful environments is littered with lethal weapons to collect, and most can be customised to help you tailor your death-dealing to a range of sticky situations. What's more, from time to time you'll find yourself dishing out destruction from a gun turret or rampaging madly across the terrain in all manner of souped-up vehicles. The missions are many and varied - one moment you're escorting an endangered VIP, the next rescuing kidnapped hostages - and the pace is relentless. At least when things really heat up, you know your partner has your back...

    True bromance

Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel boosts the excitement of the single player game with an amazing co-operative multiplayer experience.

Team up with a mate via PlayStation Network or locally and you can take on legions of drug-dealing psychos together. All the firepower and fun of the solo game remains while the strategic aspect is dialled up a notch. Now there's a real person to consider, you can't just forge ahead regardless - and the joy of demolishing wave after wave of gangsters is heightened considerably by the knowledge that you can yell commands to, or follow orders from, a real life ally.

The multiplayer mayhem also makes for increased tension... however, with your buddy beside you, you're more likely than ever to annihilate all comers and escape Mexico alive.
