How to use audio focus on PS5 consoles

What is audio focus on PS5 consoles 

Audio Focus increases immersion by providing presets to amplify soft sounds to meet your hearing preferences, ensuring a clearer audio experience when using headphones or headsets. This feature supports broader accessibility in audio experiences.

  • You must use headphones to use audio focus.
  • You may experience loud headphone sounds when using this feature. Make sure to check your headphone volume when using it.
  • You can use the Mono Audio for Headphones setting along with this feature. 
  • You can't use this feature with PlayStation VR (CUH-ZVR series, sold separately).
  • Only one user at a time can use this feature. If you're currently using audio focus and another user wants to turn it on, you first need to turn off audio focus. Then, the other user can turn it on.
  • To access the feature, you'll need to ensure your system software is updated to the latest version.

How to turn on audio focus on PS5 consoles 

  1. Make sure your headphones are connected.
  2. From the home screen, select Settings > Sound.
  3. Select Volume > Audio Focus.
  4. Turn on Use Audio Focus.
  • To check how the settings have affected your audio output, select Audio Preview on the audio focus settings screen.
  • You can also access these settings by going to the control centre and selecting Sound > Audio Focus.

How to adjust audio focus settings on PS5 consoles 

You can adjust the following when you turn on audio focus.

  • Boost Low Pitch
    Amplify low-frequency sounds. These sounds can often be heard in roaring car engines, thunder, or bass in music.
  • Boost Voices
    Amplify middle-frequency sounds. These sounds are important for hearing voice chats and character voices.
  • Boost High Pitch
    Amplify high-frequency sounds. These sounds can often be heard in footsteps and metallic noises.
  • Boost Quiet Sounds
    Amplify low-volume sounds in a wide range of frequencies.
  • Set the adjustment levels for the left and right sides individually.
  • Set the amount of amplification that's applied. You can set it to Weak, Medium, or Strong.
