How to troubleshoot issues after changing your online ID

  • Changing your online ID can sometimes cause issues, such as losing game progress, functionality and content.
    If you're having trouble after changing your online ID, please contact PlayStation Support using the link at the bottom of this page as soon as possible for help with changing back to your original online ID.
  • Changing back to your original online ID is free and should resolve most issues.

Online ID is now Temp-xxxxxx

If your online ID was changed to Temp-xxxxxx, please follow the guides below.

If you find that your online ID has been changed to Temp-xxxxxx, this means we've received a verified report from another player that your online ID has breached our Terms of Service. Please see our Code of Conduct for more details.

  • Contact PlayStation Support using the link at the bottom of this page to change back to your original online ID, as long as it doesn't breach our Terms of Service.
  • You can also change your online ID from Temp-xxxxxx to a new one.

Your original online ID has been reported as inappropriate. This type of online ID change can’t be reversed.

Unwanted online ID change

If you find that your online ID has changed and think it was changed by someone else, please follow the steps below to secure your account.

  1. Change your password.
  1. Change your sign-in ID (email address).
  1. If you haven't enabled 2SV, we recommend setting it up to enhance your account security.

After you've secured your account, contact PlayStation Support using the link at the bottom of this page to change back to your original online ID.

If you can't access your account, contact PlayStation Support using the link at the bottom of this page to help you secure your account and change back to your original online ID.

Online ID hasn’t updated

It can sometimes take up to a week for some applications or services to update to your new online ID. If your new online ID isn't appearing after a week, please contact PlayStation Support using the link at the bottom of this page.
