Terms and Conditions

Specific Rules for “FIA Gran Turismo Championships 2018” Competition

1.             The “FIA Gran Turismo™ Championships 2018”  competition (“Competition”) is open to persons who meet the Minimum Age Requirement (as defined below) and who are residents of Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Lebanon, Kuwait, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UAE and the UK (“Entrant Countries”) except employees, agents, contractors or consultants of the Promoter (as defined below) and their immediate families, the Promoter's associated companies and anyone else professionally connected with the Competition (“Entrants). For the purposes of the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event defined in clause 4.7 of Schedule 1, Italy shall also be an Entrant Country. The Minimum Age Requirement is 18 years or older to those Entrants who are residents of Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Lebanon, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK and 21 years or older to those residents of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE. These Terms (as defined below) apply to those Entrants resident of the Entrant Countries other than France.

2.             The Competition opens for entries on 20 June 2018 at 16.45 GMT ("Opening Date") and closes on 8 September 2018 at 23.59 GMT ("Closing Date").  The period from the Opening Date to and including the Closing Date shall be referred to as the “Competition Period.

3.             The Competition is free to enter and no purchase of any kind is necessary but Entrants must own or have access to a PlayStation®4 and a copy of Gran Turismo™ Sport for PlayStation®4 (“Game”). Entrants must be active PlayStation®Plus members during the Competition Period. By entering the Competition, Entrants accept and will be bound by these terms and conditions (“Terms”) as well as the General Rules (click here).

4.             The rules governing the Competition are set out in Schedule 1.

5.             Registration for PlayStation™Network (“PSN”) is subject to acceptance of the PSN Terms of Service and User Agreement and PSN Privacy Policy. (http://eu.playstation.com/legal/).

6.             Each Entrant may only submit one (1) entry and will only be eligible to win one (1) Prize as applicable (as defined below).

7.             There shall be fifty six (56) winners (each a “Winner”) as follows:

(a)   Subject to clause 5.6 of Schedule 1, sixteen (16) Manufacturer Series Finalists (as defined in clause 5.5 of Schedule 1);

(b)   Thirty (30) Regional Finalists (as defined in clause 4.3 of Schedule 1);

(c)   Ten (10) Nations Cup World Finalists (as defined in clause 4.11 of Schedule 1) which shall include the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Winner and two (2) Runners-Up (as defined in clause 4.10 of Schedule 1);

each Winner and Runner-Up shall be selected in the manner set out in Schedule 1.

8.             The Nations Cup World Finalists shall be notified of their selection at the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final event and can choose to claim their (“Prize”) at that time. The Promoter shall notify the Manufacturer Series Finalists of their selection by email to the email address provided in the GT Sport Mode registration form within two (2) weeks of the Closing Date. The Promoter shall provide information to the Winners relating to the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final (as defined in clause 10(a)) and the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final by email to the email address provided in the GT Sport Mode registration form.

9.             In order to claim the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final (as defined in clause 10(a)) element of the Prize (as defined below), each Winner must respond appropriately to the Promoter’s notification email within two (2) weeks from the date of the Promoter’s notification email, and provide their full name, and date of birth.  The postal address provided must match any postal address provided at the time of entry, or a Winner may be disqualified.

10.           Each Manufacturer Series Finalist and Nations Cup World Finalist will win:

(a)   an invitation to attend and participate in the “Gran Turismo Championships World Final” which is a live event during which the 2018 Nations Cup World Final and the 2018 Manufacturer Series World Final shall take place;

(b)   return economy class flights, coach tickets or train tickets to the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final (whichever is most applicable in the Promoter’s sole discretion); and

(c)   accommodation for the duration of the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final (at the Promoter’s sole discretion),

in addition to the invitation element of the Prize set out above, the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Winner shall also win (d) a trophy,

each Nations Cup Regional Finalist will win:

(e)   an invitation to attend and participate in the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event (as defined in clause 4.7 of Schedule 1);

(f)    return economy class flights, coach tickets or train tickets to the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event (whichever is most applicable in the Promoter’s sole discretion); and

(g)   accommodation for the duration of the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event (at the Promoter’s sole discretion),

information relating to travel and accommodation shall be confirmed by Promoter and/or Polyphony Digital Inc on behalf of the Promoter by email following the end of Season 3 (as set out in Schedule 1),

 (together the “Prizes”, each a “Prize”).

11.          Prizes must be taken as stated and may not be deferred.  There will be no cash alternatives; however the Promoter reserves the right to substitute any Prize with a prize of a similar value.

12.          The Promoter cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any problem which may result in any Competition entry or other correspondence being lost or not being properly registered.

13.          PlayStation®Plus subscription only available to SEN account holders with access to PlayStation™Store and high-speed internet.  PSN, PS Store and PS Plus subject to terms of use and country and language restrictions; PS Plus content and services vary by subscriber age. Users must be 7 years or older and users under 18 require parental consent, except that users in Germany must be 18 years or older. Service availability is not guaranteed. Online features of specific games may be withdrawn on reasonable notice - eu.playstation.com/gameservers. PS Plus subscription automatically renews at the end of the subscription period at the current PS Store price.  Full terms apply: PSN Terms of Service at eu.playstation.com/legal.

14.          In the event of a dispute, the Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

15.          The Promoter reserves the right to cancel the Competition or amend these Terms at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion or if circumstances arise outside its control.

16.          If any Prize is found to be ineffective, faulty or damaged upon receipt, the Promoter must be notified in writing within seven (7) days of receipt, otherwise the Prize will be deemed to be accepted as received.  This does not affect a Winner’s and/or a Runner-Up’s statutory rights (if any).

17.          Each Winner agrees to take part in any reasonable publicity required by the Promoter.

18.          If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these Terms or incorrect, illegible, fraudulent or other invalid or improper information has been provided, the Promoter may in its sole discretion refuse to process an entry or fulfill any Prize awarded. If an Entrant fails to comply with clauses 3, 5, 6, 9, and/or Schedule 1 or uses multiple accounts and/or any automated system to enter, they will be excluded from the Competition and their entry will be declared void.

19.          Each Winner and each Runner-Up may be required to pay tax on any Prize won in accordance with their jurisdiction’s tax legislation and will be responsible for any related tax liability.

20.          The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, publish each Winner’s and each Runner-Up’s name on the Promoter’s website(s).  Each Winner’s and each Runner-Up’s name will be made available on reasonable request to those enclosing a self-addressed envelope marked ‘FIA Gran Turismo™ Championships 2018’ to the following address: Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Limited, 10 Great Marlborough Street, London W1F 7LP United Kingdom within six (6) weeks of the Closing Date.

22.          The “Promoter” is: Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Limited, 10 Great Marlborough Street, London W1F 7LP United Kingdom.

23.          To the extent permitted by applicable law, these Terms shall be construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and the contract between each Entrant and the Promoter shall be deemed to have been formed and performed in England.

 

Schedule 1

 

1.         The following two championships will be hosted for the FIA Gran Turismo™ Championships 2018:

1.1        FIA GT Championships Nations Cup (hereafter referred to as the “Nations Cup”): The Nations Cup is a championship in which countries and locales will compete for victory. The country and locale of a player's affiliation will be automatically decided by the country of their Sony Entertainment Network Account (SEN account). There are no restrictions on the country of origin of the cars that will be driven.

1.2        FIA GT Championships Manufacturer Series (hereafter referred to as the “Manufacturer Series”): The Manufacturers Series is a championship in which Entrants race using cars made by one type of manufacturer. Entrants will race to be the best racers for their manufacturer and then and will then race to beat Entrants who represent other manufacturers. Entrants shall choose their manufacturer from a predetermined list of twenty five manufacturers.

2.         In order to enter the Competition, Entrants must complete the GT Sport Mode registration form which shall be presented to Entrants who select ‘GT Sport Mode’ within the Game during the Competition Period.

3.         The Online Series

3.1        Subject to clause 2 of this Schedule 1, Entrants shall enter the Competition by playing in the Online Series set of races via GT Sport Mode within the Game. The Online Series shall consist of three seasons as follows:

3.1.1     Season 1 and Season 2: in Seasons 1 and 2 Entrants may race to improve their driver rating which will enable them to gain additional points for participating in races during the Competition. Points accumulated in Seasons 1 and 2 shall be used to improve each Entrants driver rating only and shall not contribute to an Entrant’s final Online Series score;

3.1.2     Season 3: Entrants must participate in races during Season 3 to gain points which shall be used to calculate their overall ranking of the Online Series. Each Entrant’s overall ranking shall determine whether they progress to the next rounds of the championships. Entrants’ final scores shall be calculated as the summation of the five Season 3 races for which they received the most points (hereafter referred to as the “Final Scores”),

Entrants may participate in any race in any season at their discretion. The schedule for each Season is set out in clause 3.2 below.

3.3        Race dates denoted with an * mark indicate Top 24 Superstar Races (as described in clause 7 of this Schedule 1).

3.4        Each race date represents two races:

            3.4.1     one (1) Manufacturer Series race; and          

            3.4.2     one (1) Nations Cup race,

            each championship race shall take place at a different time on the given date.

3.5        Entrants shall be awarded points based on:

3.5.1     their final position in each race; and

3.5.2     the average driver rating of the Entrants they race against in each race.

3.6        During Season 3, on each race date, prior to starting each race, Entrants shall be required to confirm whether they would like to participate in the Manufacturer Series race or the Nations Cup race. The points they earn in that race shall contribute to their total points for the applicable championship as appropriate. Entrants may select one championship for each race they participate in, but may participate in both championships on each race day.

3.7        Throughout the Online Series, Entrants may participate in the Nations Cup only, the Manufacturers Series only, or both the Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Series concurrently.

4.         Rules and Structure of the Nations Cup

4.1          In order to enter the Nations Cup Entrants must select the Nations Cup prior to starting at least one race during Season 3 (as set out in clause 3.6 of this Schedule 1).

4.2          Entrants shall be awarded points in the manner set out in clauses 3.5 and 3.6 of this Schedule1.

4.3          Following the Online Season, thirty (30) competitors shall proceed to the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event (each a “Regional Finalist”).

4.4          Subject to the Country Cap as defined in clause 4.6 below, the Regional Finalists shall be:

4.4.1   subject to 4.4.2 below, the Entrants with the thirty (30) highest Final Scores attained through competing in Nations Cup races throughout the online series;

4.4.2   where an Italian competitor competing in the Italian competition entitled ‘Scendi in pista con GT Sport’ receives a higher final score at the end of the online season than the 30 (thirty) highest Final Scores, they shall become a Regional Finalist.

4.5          The entrant countries for the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Finals Live Event shall be Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Kuwait, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UAE and the UK (the “Regional Finals Entrant Countries”).

4.6          There shall be a maximum of three (3) Regional Finalists per Entrant Country (the “Country Cap”). Where an Entrant is ranked fourth in their Entrant Country, the next highest ranking Entrant from a different Entrant Country shall advance to the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final. This means that an Entrant ranked 4th or lower amongst the Entrants from their Entrant Country cannot be a Regional Finalist even if their score is higher than an Entrant placed in the top 3 of another Entrant Country.

4.7        The EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final shall be a live event during which the Regional Finalists shall race to determine the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Winner   (the “EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event”). The EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event shall take place at a date and location to be confirmed by the Promoter and/or Polyphony Digital Inc on behalf of the Promoter by email following the end of Season 3.

4.8        The EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final is expected to take place in October 2018. Regional Finalists shall attain points in the manner set out by Polyphony Digital prior to the commencement of the event.

4.9        Subject to the Country Cap set out in clause 4.6, in the event that a Regional Finalist is unable to attend the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final, the Entrant with the next highest Final Score attained during Season 3 who is not already a Regional Finalist may be invited to become participate in the EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final and shall be notified as such by Polyphony Digital Inc.

4.10      The “EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final Winner” shall be the Regional Finalist with the highest score from all applicable EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final races. The “Runners-Up” shall be the Regional Finalists with the second and third highest score from all applicable EMEA Nations Cup Region Final races.

4.11      The ten (10) Regional Finalists with the ten highest scores from all of the applicable EMEA Nations Cup Regional Final races (each a “Nations Cup World Finalists”) shall proceed to the Nations Cup World Final. The Nations Cup World Final shall take place as a separate competition during the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final 2018 which is expected to take place in November 2018. The terms shall be sent to each Nations Cup World Finalist by email prior to the event taking place.

4.12      In the event that a Nations Cup World Finalist is unable to attend the Nations Cup World Final, the Regional Finalist with the eleventh highest score may be invited to become a Nations Cup World Finalist and shall be notified as such by Polyphony Digital Inc.

5          Rules and Structure of the Manufacturer Series

5.1        The Manufacturer Series is a global competition with different Promoters for participating countries other than the Entrant Countries.

5.2        In order to enter the Manufacturer Series, each Entrant must:

5.2.1     select one of twenty five car manufacturers prior to participating in their first Manufacturer Series race during the Online Season. Each Entrant will be designated two cars belonging to their chosen manufacturer which they will drive for the remainder of the Manufacturer Series.  Entrants shall not be able to change their selected manufacturer or their designated cars once making their initial selection during the 2018 Online Season; and

5.2.2     select the Manufacturer Series prior to starting at least one race (as set out in clause 3.6 of this Schedule 1).

5.3        Entrants shall be awarded points in the manner set out in clauses 3.5 and 3.6 of this Schedule 1).

5.4        The manufacturers with the sixteen highest scores aggregated from all the scores of global competitions shall be represented in the Manufacturer Series Final (each a “Final Manufacturer”).

5.5        Subject to clause 5.6 below, the Entrant with the highest Final Score for their corresponding Final Manufacturer at the end of Season 3 shall proceed to the Manufacturer Series World Final (each a “Manufacturer Series Finalist”) which shall take place at the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final .

5.6        Where an Italian resident competing in the Gran Turismo™ Italian competition entitled ‘Scendi in pista con GT Sport’ attains a higher Final Score for their corresponding Final Manufacturer than the highest Final Score attained by an Entrant of that Final Manufacturer, the Italian resident shall be invited to participate in the Manufacturer Series World Final and become a Manufacturer Series Finalist in lieu of the aforementioned Entrant.

5.7        The terms of the Manufacturer Series World Final shall be announced prior to the Gran Turismo™ Championships World Final 2018 which is expected to take place in November 2018.

6.         Star Players

6.1        Subject to clauses 6.2 and 6.3 below, Entrants shall be eligible to register as a star player if they either:

            6.1.1     are in the top 200 season point rankings of their respective season; or           

            6.1.2     are in the top 10 season point rankings in their Entrant Country; or           

            6.1.3     are in the top 10 season point rankings for their respective manufacturer (Manufacturer Series only).

6.2        Once an Entrant meets one of the conditions set out in clause 6.1 of this Schedule 1, they shall receive a notification in Gran Turismo™ Sport notifying them that they are eligible. Once they have received this notification, Entrants may register to become a star player by visiting gran-turismo.com.

6.3        Registered star players (hereafter referred to as “Star Players”) shall have an ‘S’ driver rating and shall be eligible to participate in the Top 24 Superstars Race set out in clause 7 of this Schedule 1.

6.4        Once an Entrant has earned a star player driver rating, their rating shall apply to their driving profile for one successive Online Season.

7.         Top 24 Superstars Race

7.1        Top 24 Superstars Races shall take place periodically throughout the Online Season.

7.2        Entrants who compete in the Top 24 Superstar Races shall be eligible to win bonus points during the Online Season.

7.3        Each Entrant must be a Star Player to register for a Top 24 Superstars Race.

7.4        Entrants may register to join a Top 24 Superstars Race up to fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start of each race.

7.5        For each Top 24 Superstars Race, the 24 most highly ranked Star Players who have registered for the applicable race shall be selected to participate. This ranking may be based on each Entrant’s driver rating or the total number of points acquired in the applicable season. The way in which Star Players are ranked for the purposes of Top 24 Superstars Race selection shall be defined prior to the start of each Top 24 Superstar Race.

7.6        For the Nations Cup, there can be no more than three (3) Star Players from each Entrant Country who can race in a Top 24 Superstars Race.

7.7        For the Manufacturer Series, there can be no more than two (2) Star Players representing each manufacturer who can race in a Top 24 Superstars Race.

7.8        If prior to the start of a Top 24 Superstars Race, fewer than 24 Star Players have been selected, the restrictions set out in clause 7.6 and 7.7 shall no longer apply. Star Players will thereafter be selected based on their championship ranking as applicable.
