Setting up your PlayStation Classic is a simple process — just plug and play. One requirement to check before starting is the type of AC adaptor (not included) you are using to power the PS Classic console.

 
 

What AC adaptors are compatible with the PS Classic?

To power the PlayStation Classic you will need to plug the USB cable (provided) into an AC adaptor (not included) that supports 5 V, 1.0 A USB (Type A) output.

 
 

How do I set up my PS Classic?

  1. Plug the HDMI cable (provided) into the back of the PS Classic console and the HDMI input port of your display device.
  2. Connect the USB cable (provided) to an AC adaptor (not included) that supports 5 V, 1.0 A USB (Type A) output and press the power button.
  3. Connect the controller to a controller port. When playing by yourself, connect the controller to port 1.

What do the buttons on the PS Classic do?

  • Power – turns the PS Classic console on and off.
  • Open – switches virtual discs. You might need to switch virtual discs for games that were originally provided on multiple discs. If a message appears asking you to switch discs, press the OPEN button on the console.
  • Reset – returns player to the PS Classic home screen.
 
 

What do the different PS Classic power lights mean?

  • Off - Console is off.
  • Orange - Console is on standby.
  • Green - Console is on.
  • Blinking orange and green - Console is overheating. Remove the AC adaptor (not included) from the electricity supply, and then leave your console in a well-ventilated location for a while.
  • Red - Console is overheating. The PS Classic will turn off automatically. Remove the AC adaptor (not included) from the electricity supply, and then leave your console in a well-ventilated location for a while.

How do PS Classic saves work?

Each game on the PS Classic has its own virtual memory card for your in-game saves. To manage save data on the virtual memory card, follow these steps.

  • Select a game on the home screen and press down on the D-Pad
  • Select [Virtual Memory Card] to view or delete saved data for the selected game.

Each PS Classic game also has a [Resume point], located next to the Virtual Memory Card. These points are separate from in-game saves and allow you to return to the last time you ended a game session.

How do I reformat the PS Classic?

You can delete all of the save data on your PS Classic by selecting [Initialise Console] to perform a 'factory reset'.  

  • From the homescreen select [Settings] > [Initialise console].

You can also restore the PS Classic to its [Default Settings] in the same menu.
