Features
Music Controls
Life with PlayStation® allows the music on your PS3™ system's hard disk to be automatically categorized into nine separate categories: Recommended, Energetic, Relax, Mellow, Upbeat, Emotional, Lounge, Dance and Extreme. You can browse through these categories by navigating to [General Settings] > [Music] > [Select by Mood] from the Options menu.
You can also play music or playlists directly by navigating to [General Settings] > [Music] > [Select Track].
Folding@home™ Modes
Three Folding@home™ modes are available to fine-tune your contribution level to the project. You can select your desired Folding@home™ mode by navigating to [General Settings] > [Folding@home Priority] from the Options menu.
| Mode | Description |
| Normal | This is the default setting. Folding@home™ continues to run in the background while you enjoy the other channels available in Life with PlayStation®. |
| Disable | Folding@home™ is completely disabled. You can still continue to enjoy the other channels available in Life with PlayStation®. |
| Expert | Folding@home™ is the only channel enabled. All application processing power is used exclusively for Folding@home™ and no other channels can be browsed. Note: While in this mode, channel updates are also disabled. |
Information Panel
By quickly double tapping the square button, you can access the Information Panel. The Information Panel displays your PS3™ system's time, the current protein-folding simulation's progress and information regarding music playback (including artist name and track title).
Buttons for controlling music playback are also available from this panel.
Help
You can display the Life with PlayStation® Help screens by selecting [General Settings] > [Help] from the Options menu.
You can also see channel-specific Help screens by navigating to the Option Menu >[Help]. Each channel's Help screens provide controller navigation and features specific to that channel.
Configuration
You can change the following settings by selecting [General Settings] from the Options menu.
[Screensaver]
After no controller input has been detected for three (3) minutes, the screen will go blank except for a logo that periodically moves to avoid screen burn-in. Any controller input will cause the system to exit screensaver mode. This feature allows your PS3™ system to consume slightly less power and to increase performance of protein-folding simulations.
[Sound Effects]
This option allows you to turn sound effects on or off. This option does not affect music playback.
[PlayStation®Network]
Enabling this option will trigger Life with PlayStation® to prompt you to sign in to PlayStation®Network when the application starts. You will not see this message if you are already signed in to PlayStation®Network.
[Auto-Start]
This option allows you to specify the channel to display when Life with PlayStation® is started.
